Privacy Policy
We collect only the information needed to run this website and respond to your inquiries. Here's what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Who we are
This website is operated by Genuine Foods on behalf of UTPB Dining at The University of Texas Permian Basin. When we say "we" or "us" in this policy, we mean Genuine Foods.
If you have questions about this policy or how your information is handled, contact us at elizabeth.senn@genuinefoods.com.
What we collect
We collect limited information in three ways:
Automatically through your browser. When you visit the site, our hosting provider (Webflow) automatically records standard log information including your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages visited. This is standard for any website.
Through analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Google Analytics collects information about your visit — pages viewed, time on site, general location at the city or region level (not your precise location), and similar usage data. Google Analytics only runs if you consent to analytics cookies in our cookie banner.
When you contact us. If you submit our feedback form (hosted by Microsoft Forms) or email us directly, we collect the information you choose to provide — typically your name, email address, and the content of your message.
We do not collect payment information, financial information, or Social Security numbers through this website. Meal plan purchases and any related financial transactions happen on UTPB's separate systems, not here.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and secure the website
- Respond to your inquiries, feedback, and requests
- Understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for targeted advertising. We do not share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
How we share information
We share limited information with service providers who help us operate the website. These providers process information on our behalf under their own privacy practices:
- Webflow — hosts the website and provides standard server logs
- Google (Analytics and Drive) — provides analytics and serves the embedded menu PDFs
- Microsoft (Forms) — processes feedback form submissions
We may share information when required by law, in response to a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of UTPB Dining, Genuine Foods, our users, or others.
We do not share information with The University of Texas Permian Basin except as needed to operate the dining program (for example, aggregated, non-identifying usage data for reporting purposes).
Cookies and tracking
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. We use cookies for two purposes:
Necessary cookies. These keep the website working properly — for example, remembering your cookie preferences and maintaining session security. These cannot be disabled.
Analytics cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies to measure how visitors use the site. These only fire if you choose "Accept all" or specifically enable analytics in our cookie banner. You can change your choice anytime using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer.
We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or remarketing tags on this website.
Third-party services embedded in this site (Google Drive for menu PDFs, Microsoft Forms for feedback) may set their own cookies when you interact with them. Those services are governed by their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information:
- The right to know what information we have about you
- The right to request a copy of that information
- The right to ask us to correct or delete it
- The right to opt out of analytics tracking (use the cookie banner or footer link)
- The right to file a complaint with your local data protection authority
These rights apply broadly — including under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and the EU General Data Protection Regulation, depending on your location.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at elizabeth.senn@genuinefoods.com. We'll respond within 45 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law:
- Server logs: up to 30 days
- Analytics data: as configured in Google Analytics (typically 14 months)
- Form submissions and email correspondence: as long as needed to respond to your inquiry, plus a reasonable period for our records (typically up to 2 years)
After these periods, we delete or anonymize the information.
Children's privacy
This website is intended for current and prospective UTPB students, their families, faculty, staff, and visitors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at elizabeth.senn@genuinefoods.com and we'll delete it.
